This post is for my girlfriend, bless her beautiful always shivering heart...for my special lass who cries she's freezing at any temperature under the mark of 78 degrees (she's from Texas, so California summers are brisk and our fall temps are near "arctic"). Maybe we'll pick up a copy of Erika Knight's Simple Knits with a Twist: Unique Project for Creative Knitters so we can gift her a knitted slipcover for Christmas.

OMG I need this NOW
Haha that's gorgeous. Running to check if its on Ravelry.
holy crap that's a lot of yarn.
that is too cute for words!
Dawww....... so heart warming and makes me wanna dig out my knitting needles and yarn...
I'm a knitter, and I do not find that slip cover charming...
cool and unexpected. very retro boho.
wow i love it! i usually dont like unusual slipcovers, just simple fitted ones, but this is adorable perfect changeout for winter!
Yay! First person singular! I love it when these sneak through.
I'm a knitter (lapsed; small child) and I say this is totally cool, and by the way, one fine piece of knitting! Brava!!
This doesn't make alot of sense to me. It is beautiful....but can you imagine how many little snags you would get in no time flat? I have a hard enough time with sweaters I wear once a week....let alone a chair I sit on daily!
cozy is the new hip :-)
WOW...cables AND bobbles. Gorgeous.
ottowa_alison, I just found it on Ravelry: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/aran-armchair-cover. Only 1 project so far...
Love it! Completely impractical, but oh so cozy looking and nicely detailed.
P.S. It's 9 degrees with a -4 wind chill in Chicago this morning. Now THAT'S arctic!
Part of me says, mehh... the other part of me says, I wonder how many joinable round needles it would take to encircle my little sofa.
I've actually always loved this knit chair using an IKEA frame: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sweet-and-lowdown-chair
I like the Arran sweater for a chair. I love the tag, "girlfriend is freezing."
Looking forward to seeing what stories and strategies emerge to solve such a predicament.
It's snuggly looking, but it's gonna stretch. If it would stay as is, I'd love one, But it won't. So much work for a "sculpture" you have to be so careful of...
AMAZING!!!!!
That is great! I've got to get my grandma started now!
Hmm. Not so much. I guess I'm the only one who doesn't love it!!
No, I am with you - I don't like it either.
Not really my style, but I can appreciate the hard work that went into making it.
Not my style, but Bemz would make a fortune selling these.
I think this looks very nice. The craftmanship is amazing.
this would much more pratical in crochet- less room for stretching and snagging. i'm really tempted to try this. i have an ikea couch that needs a new cover, and we're talking about an incredible amount of yarn and time. i wish i had a smaller chair to start with!
