Glowing gloves. Designed by student Katarina Britse at Stockholm's Beckmans College of Design, this lamp transcends the mundane rubber gloves it's made of to become a thing of beauty.

Without being told, we wouldn't instantly think "rubber gloves" when viewing this. We just think soft, glowing, airy light. (via Crib Candy.)

Very creative -- and it looks like it was A LOT of work!
This is very scary. I will put this on my list right under my fear of the band KISS.
I wonder if the heat of the lamp underneath enhances the latex-y smell. Sort of like a Glade plug-in. Except yucky.
Beautiful, but I'm wondering how she keeps the gloves inflated, and whether they will wilt over time, because of the heat from the bulb.
I also wonder if this will show up at IKEA.
It looks like something is coming for me.
GothamTomato, not sure about Beckmans' School, but there is a similar project as part of my design school program and the light fixture only needs to survive the class -- its more about creativity than durability.
Trojan anyone? I bet the light would be sublime if you used the French tickler style.
Around 1989, the French edition of Marie Claire did a photo spread of exotic cousins to the Trojan. It looked like a convention of high-end jelly fish with the most fascinating heads and antennae. So one could, with some planning and creativity (along with shopping a bit more specialized than the local Walgreen's) come up with quite an aquatic theme, geared to whatever color scheme one liked.
creative and creepy.
I shivered at the feeling that multiple hands were reaching for me - even before I knew what it was made of. This is scarier than those padded elevators...
perhaps if there were a way to deconstruct the gloves to vary the distinct/subliminal line the four fingers make?
Kurt-
I had the same naughty thought! LOL
