It's fall. We have a little contest going on. Maybe you're in a rut. A sad, colorless rut. We know. We've been there. So here's a little inspiration for you that we are over the friggin moon about: Chicago-based photographer Laurie Rubin is showing us how to flaunt color in the most righteous way.
No, she's not an interior decorator. And yes, she does photograph food (that artichoke photograph is making us drool. And we usually hate artichokes!). But even better than that are her photographs of home interiors. We are so in love with this dining (look at those orange chairs! So great paired with those red and orange vases on the cabinets. If the person who owns this room is reading this, we strongly urge you to enter our contest). Browsing through her body of work, we're loving how Laurie turns up the volume on color and contrast, but still manages to capture the subtlety of muted hues and earth tones. Another thing we love? Her colors go hand in hand. Check out her still life photo of a Cartier and Hermès box pictured here, and compare it to the above photo of the dining room.
