Curvy, warm, Brazilian. These benches undulate through the lobby of the Paulo Autran Theatre in the heart of Sao Paulo. Though the designer is unnamed, we have to imagine the influence to be Danish, but wrought from tropical Brazillian hardwood.
The Paulo Autran theatre is operated by the Servico Social do Comercio (SESC) in Sao Paulo. SESC is a private institution funded jointly by a mandatory tax on Brazillian businesses and nominal membership fee. SESC administers an awesome amount of artistic, cultural, health, social and environmental programs in every state in Brazil, possibly even one that produced this bench. We're liking it.
