When we're helping clients get organized, one of the first things we address is paper coming in the door. Whether it's a surplus of magazine subscriptions or the daily newspaper, we try to curb the overflow and then create a system using a storage solution. This rod for magazines and newspapers is a great organizing tool to keep your reading material to a minimum.

Once the rod is full (which won't take long) especially if you fan out the newspaper as shown in the picture--you'll have to toss the excess to make room for the current issue(s). We like the rod idea for storing and displaying your magazines for a few reasons. First, you'll always know what you own because the magazines are fanned out (instead of being stacked in a pile in a tray). Secondly, you can easily turn this idea into an easy DIY. A decorative rod and ends are all you'll need for a simple and stylish magazine/newspaper display area. And last (but definitely not least) this display idea reminds us of something we'd see in a store. Often times in organizing, it's important to make your storage/display area a place you'll want to maintain and sometimes it's easier done if the space feels like a store.
