We love that organizing isn't a "one size fits all" mantra. The important thing is to have your own system and use what works for you. Take for example, our friend Loop's landing zone...
He calls it his manlandingzone (we kind of love it). He's taken a vintage champagne cooler (made out of black glass) and placed it in his entryway. Loop puts his wallet, keys, change, headphones, pens, etc. in the vintage container.

It's all right next to his iPhone charger so its all in one spot (very guy-friendly).

Isn't that a bit small for a Champagne cooler? I mean, a bottle doesn't fit into that if you look at the photo with the hand does it? Or maybe a half size bottle?
Ah! I've been looking for one exactly like that for ages- I have goblets in olive green by the same maker, and I use them as candle-holders. This wine cooler/canister thing could have so many neat uses!
This post made my day... I've been pick up my boyfriends keys and wallet in random places around the apt and it drives me nuts.
I use a bowl too. Mine doesn't have a lid, but it really keeps it all in one place.
Ditto on using a vintage pottery bowl - Not only keeps items organized, but prevents scratches on my credenza...
It's really all about the binder clip. Look closely!
love the binder clip. I don't think I could get my husband to wrap up his headphones like that. I have a mini-platter that my husband uses to put all his man stuff. It works pretty well, but I would love to have something like this with a top.
I use IKEA's Estestisk as my landing zone and it is PERFECT. It is mounted in my hallway outside the bathroom and I have to walk by it a million times per day. Sliding magnetic chalkboard on the front with 6-key holders on one side (with a magnetic backing) and a mail area on the other side (also magnetic backing). Sits about 3" deep or so, so the top serves as a shelf for small items and there is a full length shelf behind the sliding chalkboard. I love it. When mail is ready to go out I use a magnet to stick it to the front and I can't miss it. Best $30 I've ever spent in my life.

I have a designated area for my husband to put his wallet and keys and the like. This idea is a huge lifesaver and my head of hair intact for the past year and a half now!
Oh my goodness... the binder clip used for the headphones is GENIUS!!!!!
What exactly makes this a manlanding zone? Only men have keys? Only men have iPods? Only men can't stand a messy pile of pocket stuff? Good Grief.
I also have a landing zone but realistically, being a woman means most of my crap goes in my purse, which lands wherever...but that's a different issue entirely!
I agree, the binder clip is an AWESOME solution for headphones! Perfect for the gym bag as well!
Is that an urn?
KTG--think about how Attila's wife felt--what with the shield, the sword, the helmet, the human heads.......
Isn't there a company that sells black glass apothecary jars like that? Can anyone tell me where to find them? I can't remember where I've seen it.
K T G--
I've read this post's intro now several times, and don't see any of the co-oping or credit-taking that you rambled on about.
Do you ever get tired of being sooooooo critical of a site you seem inexplicably hellbent on posting on? I don't get it.
Unfortunately, I read waaaaay too many of your posts.
