It's often hard to find enough wall space in your home for all the pictures you want to hang. So, if you're looking for a place to really pile them on, the bathroom is often a very good place. Sure, you spend a good deal of time in close quarters, which means you'll really see them, but also grouping can create a really cozy atmosphere....
These pictures were taken at a friend's over the long weekend. They have a long bathroom, but it works well for their assembly of large and small framed drawings and prints. These are also older pieces by friends and family, so the collection is personal.
In addition, look at how they use the end wall for the biggest piece which can draw your attention from far away. As you enter and get closer to the smaller side pictures, they are then at the perfect distance for viewing.

As a conservation framer I have to comment that it is a VERY bad idea to hang any artwork in the bathroom. The humidity in a bathroom will accumulate under the glass and destroy works on paper, with canvas pieces the moisture gets onto the canvas and breaks down the fibers and can also cause mold.
If you like art in the bathroom try ceramic or metal wall pieces or only things that you have no interest in keeping for very long.
i second that... make sure if you're hanging it in a bathroom, it is totally expendable.
...or make sure it's a powder room, which this appears to be. That should be ok, right?
Oh, whoops, just spied the shower curtain. However, my question/statement still stands...
Laminated art would be my choice. It might not hold off moisture forever, but it does for quite a long time.
As great as the paintings look, the linoleum flooring is just plain hideous. Throwing down a seagrass rug would make a world of difference.
This looks SO MUCH like the bathroom in my old walk-up apartment on East 50th St.! When you walked the length of the bathroom and carefully pivoted in place to sit on the toilet, you looked up over the door and saw a "No U-Turn" sign (which I left when I moved)...
This makes me claustrophobic.
Definitely only for "art" you're prepared to toss. Besides being ruined by the humidity from showers, there's also the gross factor... Like on Seinfeld when George had brought that art book to the bathroom: it wasn't welcome anywhere else after that...
It does not seem cozy to me, more along the lines of cluttered. And I agree, the humidity - especially of such a tiny bathroom will ruin those paintings and other art work in no time
I like this, it is cozy, but I'm not sure how I'd feel if I were one of those family or friends whose work ended up in the bathroom. I agree that this might be better in a powder room.
is that slatwall? or did they just have someone talented do horizontal mounts of long boards on the walls?
don't put the great art up but otherwise it's a fun idea.
