We were quite taken with these guns and the below pigeons made out of old plates. Mel Robson is a ceramic artist located at the top end of Australia in Brisbane. She makes a lot of interesting bits and pieces but it was the more recent work with recycled willow pattern type plates that got us excited.
Using either side of each item they are cut out using a water jet cutting process. We’re particularly drawn to the gun shooting out bits of plate but a small flock of pigeons on our wall would look quite smashing too. If you want to see more visit Mel’s blog here.

what is it with the gun designs? does anyone buy this stuff (had a better word than 'stuff', just being nice)?
Call me cynical...but like the guns and would great on my wall in the hallway
i think guns used here or in Krafft's work are effective thought-provoking pieces. If it's not your cup of tea, that's fine but don't dismiss it as shi* because there is actually a lot of folks who dig it.
I think there might be something lost in translation here. There is a huge difference between gun culture in the US and Australia [since Australias gun amnesty in the late 90's following a massacre and the subsequent law reforms], as Australia has comparatively no guns.
To me this reads as an intentional contradiction between something pretty and fragile and somehing industrious and aggressive - as art I think it's fantastic.
As far as Charles Krafft goes, some of his themes cross over into this work, but his work is unsettling and deliberatley provoking, this seems naive and light hearted.
I'd like to see Krafft's work in a museum, I'd like to see this on my wall.
I like the pigeons, not a fan of the guns.

it's on the eastern coast in the center of the country.
i live two hours from brisbane (part of the year).
The Aussie blogger is from Melbourne. Anywhere north of the Murray river is 'top end' (and she'll know with a comment like that, I'm from Sydney.... he-he-he.
