It's no secret that we're pretty into encaustic tiles (see here, here and here) so when we saw these tiles sold by the piece we started thinking about what we could do with a tile or two:

Just down the street from Intelligentsia and their incredible blue and white tile, the Casbah Cafe has delicious French and Moroccan influenced food and teas and a little store behind the restaurant. There they sell these tiles at $7.50 a piece. For that price we don't need a case (they do offer wholesale and larger scale orders at conceivably lower prices) but with just one or two we can think of a couple ways to incorporate these beauties into everyday life (maybe even to give away as gifts):

• Coasters: add some felt or cork to the bottom and use these as coasters on the coffee table.
• Display: put your favorite perfum bottles on one of these in the bathroom to visually organize the space and add some warmth and beauty.
• Um, Paperweight?: Ok, we're kind of pushing it, but we just love these tiles so we'll look for any excuse!
