Yesterday we mentioned in our Store: Sanctuary post about the owner Hanna Curran's penchant for DIY store display ideas. We also liked this simple trick she used to hide an unsightly control unit for the AC. Read more...
She could have just hung a fabric panel over the unwanted devices to conceal their location. However, she added an inexpensive light source behind her fabric panel and chose fabric with a lot of texture, like ruffles (in this case, a ruffled shower curtain). In this way she added not just a concealing device, she created a lighted sculpture! The shower curtain she used is from India Rose, but you could easily use any textured fabric panel to create this same sort of effect. Or, you could even make your own ruffled panel using fabric scraps to create a functional art piece for your own space!
What do you think? Do you have any spots in your own home where you could use this simple but effective solution?
