Normally we get our San Francisco fix by reading AT:SF, but last week we got to go in person. We stayed with friends, visited a few gardens, and took snapshots of our favorite details from the homes and sites we saw...

cherry blossoms at the japanese tea garden

we loved these little stools at the tea garden

shopping on valencia

me and my friend jenny at clarion alley

skateboard art

cute puppy and cool inlaid floors

hooks at rare device

succulents on an orange table at our friend's house

cloud paintings by unknown artists

our friend's roommate is a horticulturist

homes on the street we stayed on

Ooh I know that furniture store on Valencia! I've been meaning to go in...
looks like fun! i love sf! thanks for sharing your little vacay.
I LOVE SF- my ( now husband) and I had a very beautiul and relaxing day in the Japanese Gardens including sipping hot tea in the teahouse during a crazy downpour- I've never seen rain so beautiful before...what a lovely setting!!!

I'm always jealous of other cities vintage furniture stores.
glad you had fun in our city. the tea garden is nice but i prefer dim sum at yang sing, a beer at the beach chalet (with its wpa murals), cocktails at the clift/redwood room, or margaritas at zuni.
my own dining room table, a walnut parsons style table with two 20" leaves by glenn of california, came from the store you photographed. we are blessed with midcentury and reuse/remodel/consignment stores from sonoma to san jose as well as a great current design scene.
that "cool inlaid floor" is actually pretty standard issue for edwardian to moderne flats in two and three story buildings throughout the city.
