We were flipping through an issue of Domino Magazine yesterday and spied an interesting use of a door--it was transformed into a "moveable wall" on which artwork was hung. We almost missed it because the door seemed to blend right in with the wall, which made the room seem bigger. More space saving ways to use the front or back of a door after the jump.
The art on the door was hung quite cleverly, so the art swings open with the door. We think using the door as an extension of the wall is a great way to keep your eyes moving around the room where they normally would hesitate when arriving at the door.
For an alternate look, we love using full length mirrors on bedroom doors. We found an antique mirrored door from a wardrobe and thought it would be perfect for our bedroom door.
We also really like the look of a chalkboard door. When you think of something you need from the store, or a quick memo to yourself, just jot it down.
An over the door organizer is the perfect way to utilize vertical space while being able to access your belongings without having to search for them.
We think this idea might be our favorite--an umbrella hanging on a door. While we don't get enough rain in Los Angeles to really warrant an umbrella front and center--the whimsical quality of it makes us smile.
