We got a kick out of seeing an oversize load truck hauling this prefab house designed by San Francisco architect Christopher Deam. It's so cool to see it straight from delivery to the finished interior, after the jump...

perfect!
Thank you for the link. How exciting. I really hope one day in the fureture these pefab homes are affordable enough for the general public.
Crazy!
That's fun. I want one. :)
if I were going to build a house, this is the way I'd go.
I'd love to know where the house was moved to, since the bay area is so densely built that I can't imagine being able to have one of these except for demolishing an existing house.
I want the blue flame semi truck!
I want this for a guesthouse/poolhouse.
You're kidding me right? This is nothing but an overpriced trailer.
Modular homes are actually a lot more cost-efficient than building a home onsite. There is a better end result as well, since the modules are built indoors without exposure to the elements.
(Forgive me, my dad owns a construction company and builds modular homes. Though I do cringe to see that module on the truck unprotected.)
A little FYI: Christopher Deam is married to Lara Hedborg Deam, the founder of Dwell magazine...
It looks like a less awesome version of the MiniHouse that TreeHugger featured a few years ago. The MiniHouse is attractive, modular, and priced within reach of people who don't live in Dwell houses. It can even be set up to be completely off-grid, so I fantasize about buying a little plot of land in the wilderness and plopping one down. http://www.sustain.ca/
