We bumped into Rachel for the first time a few weeks back (she recognized us from pictures), saw that she was having a baby AND heard that her apartment was inspired by AT. We were so excited we asked her to send us pics. Little did we know what we had in store for us. Check out what she has done and how lucky her little urchin is going to be. Here's a "photo of the 8'x9' room that will be the nursery (the TV won't stay). Plus one of the LR/DR below."
(Thanks, Rachel!)

I think this one should win the I've Got COlor contest!!!!!
This is so stunning! My living room has a very similar color scheme. I am inspired to put a line art mural on a wall! Did you buy a stencil or hand paint it (livingroom).
And I guess Rachel would object if I devoted my life to lying on her living room floor, contemplating her design? Too much trouble to step over the body? Might need feeding?
Oh why isn't this in the color contest?
I absolutely love it, I'm so jealous! She should enter the colors contest! The baby's room is really cute and I like that it's painted so that the kid can grow into it.
What is that trailer painting that says American on it? It is fantastic! I love the grey with red accents throughout the place.
Awesome apartment!
I'm pretty sure the print on the wall is from Hatch Show Print, in Nashville.
I could've saved Rachel the trouble of getting pregnant by letting her adopt me. And she could've kept the TV in my—I mean, the baby's—room, because my mind is already rotted. What a beautiful apartment! This should win the colors contest. I've seen nothing even close to as cute!
I'd love to know all of the art resources! The kangaroo(?) head appears to be hand-drawn or stenciled.
Why oh why isn't this in the color contest - Instafinalist!
That 2nd picture is absolutely to be lived for.
Rachel- any chance you can give us details on the LR/DR paint color? I am dying to do a red/blue combo but can't find the right blue. Hmmm.
Wow! This is beautiful! Even the toys (especially Rudolph the RED-nosed reindeer)fit wondefully.
I have been agonizing over painting our den/family room red.
Can you please tell me the name/manufacturer/finish of the paint? It is gorgeous.
wow. home tour, please.
Agree with zac: home tour! I'd love to see more of this apartment. It's very cool.
This place should be entered into the colour contest! Love it, love it, love it.
Wow. Everything is drop dead. Paint. Furniture. Art. Toys. SOOOOOO in love...
This place is fantastic!!!! I love how all the stuffed animals are displayed, yet contained. Great idea!
House tour, definitely!
Yes, home tour, Rachel!!! I also love the animal stencils. Did you do them yourself? I've never really liked a red room but this is fantastic!
Love it - definitely a top contender for the color contest. Please enter! And if not, then a house tour.
Oh please share the color codes for the paint. That greeny bluey color is soooo hard to get right. Congrats on a great job! Please share colors!
this is red done right
Now this is the way to do blue and red.
Stunning.
details, please--and yes, a house tour....
This would totally be my vote for the color contest. Love the splashes of red in the artwork on the wall. So lovely.
Grace
Very nice. Yes, please enter the color contest
LOVE IT! Please enter color contest!!!
I love love love the wires holding the stuffed animals on that shelf. That's brilliant: a subtle and totally effective way to store and display something I've always found undisplayable. Awesome.
Why is it that my favorite colorful rooms aren't in the contest? Love all of it--and completely agree with kostia!
Agree with all who said this should be in the color contest (and likely win a prize).
Isn't it funny that she has used really readily availble items: Flor carpet squares, the Saarinen chairs and table, the mass produced art (which I LOVE), etc. and many of these are things we see over and over (and I love them Rachel, I love them) and yet this feels totally custom, totally unique and special.
Maybe that should be a contest, who can use the Flor tiles in teh most unqiue way or who uses the IKEA Billy bookcases in the most unique way. That is a challenge that many Apartment Therapy devotees could really benefit from and really get into, but I digress.........
But seriously beautifully done and what an incredible home for your new baby. Congratulations.
This is what home decor is all about. Exquiste taste btw. that Eames storage unit is very nice as a room semi-divider. I'm jealous on the dining set.
OH I LOVE IT SO. [Dashes off to repaint entire house.]
this kid is going to believe a spoiled little brat. apparently i am the only one who believes in imposing brutal hardship on one's child, for their own fracking good. that is what made america strong, not creating picture perfect mini bordellos for our young ones.
Where can I get those canvas prints in the nursery? I think they were posted here a few days ago. Thanks!
WOW!!!
Thanks for sharing that with us.
Simply stunning.
and LOVE the "ugly" dolls. what's holding them so perfectly placed?
Must. Have. House. Tour.
PLEASE.
Did anyone else notice tihs looks just like a DWR catalog?
Is there ANY originality left?
-Bobby
wow!
and I agree with Colleen, there should be a contest like that.
The trailer print is indeed from Hatch. It's worth going to the shop but if you can't make it, you can buy it online at http://store.countrymusichalloffame.com/store/product.aspx?prod_id=267&catid=4.
Really gorgeous. I don't think that it looks like a DWR clone at all. There is originality galore in the artwork and color choices. Saarien suits the character of the space and I love how the entire space is a bit funky and whimsical without going kitsch.
Inspiring and liveable! Perfect for a young family.
I agree. Please enter this in the color contest. It would be my vote. Wonderful everything here. And if Wende gets the living room floor, then atleast she could share. :)
I want to know the names of every single color of paint used here. This is so very, very nice.
I'm always curious why people seem to get upset when something looks like a photo shoot or a catalog page. I guess I just don't understand why this is a negative.
Bobby Jones-Do you really think that this room lacks creativity? I am seriously asking.
heh, people get upset over nothing at all. Better to ignore.
I love the grey with the red.
good point charlene; strike my last comment.
it kind of looks like where you're gonna have a martini, not where you're going to live. (dictated from my husband)
Sweeet place. More pics please!
what is the name/paint/brand of that paint you used on that red wall?
Lovely! I think this home is so original and charming, and I don't think it looks like a DWR catalog at all. (Not that that's a bad thing, but this has an added spark of life that a catalog could never have.)
I may buy the trailer print myself, since a certain vintage store furniture proprietor is refusing to sell a vintage sign that I've been dying to have for about a year. He loves it, too, darn him.
It looks like the dolls are being held by a thin wire 'fence.'
Sweet.
Marvelous.
pretty please divulge paint colors asap! (and is that blackboard paint in the baby's room?
The Eames storage unit does look really nice (as does the rest of the room). This may be terribly impolite to ask, but is that a non-"Eames" (or non-HM) custom unit? I didn't think they made the original ones or the Herman Miller ones in 3-units-wide versions. Is it from Modern Woodworks, by any chance? In any case, it looks great.
I want that trailer print too. It doesn't look (on Rachel's wall) like it is framed, but it doesn't appear to be flat either. I wonder if she had it mounted to board?
Another vote for a full house tour please!
Am I missing out on the "real" DWR??? If I had a catalog that looked like this then I'd be doing a lot more ordering!
Beautiful...favorite part, the way the stuff animals are displayed. Would fit in both a playful adult's space, or a child's.
Thanks!
WOW. I want to live here. What a freaking cool place!
I too am puzzled why this is shown and not a contest entry, seems like a winner.
I need to do that stuffed animal thing. Where can I buy those metals wires?
where did she get the deer?
The wire stuffed animal holders look like they could be the DEKA curtian wire system from Ikea. Even if Rachel used something different, DEKA would work great.

Hi all -- thanks for all the enthusiasm -- feels good since I'm counting down weeks to birth while finishing a kitchen reno (sound familiar?). OK ...
The Red is "Red Orange 7-16" by Pratt and Lambert
The Green is "Beach Glass Opulence OP 13" by Pratt & Lambert (start with a dark primer -- it has horrible coverage)
The Grey is "Chelsea Gray HC-168" by Benjamin Moore (EcoSpec Base) It can look green, blue, or gray, depending on the time of day and light source.
And everyone is right - Hatch for the trailer print, Ikea Deka curtain wire for animals, and Modernica (via ebay) for the credenza. The wool fabric stretching is from Mood.
The Deer is a (formerly yellow) fiberglass road sign that I painted silver. Found it in Vermont somewhere. The Lion/Deer canvases are from older Jeeto stock.
I've changed things up a bit since I took these photos. As soon the new kitchen cabinets make their way out of the dining room, I'll take photos for house tour or work in progress!
rachel, what crib are you buying?
Anyone know where I can find those white hanging decorations? I need to divide my living room/computer room and that looks perfect!
I'm a freelance writer who covers design and architecture, and I'd really like to talk to you more about writing about your nursery and use of color for one of the magazines I write for. Your email isn't posted -- any chance you could email me so I can talk to you about it? I'm happy to tell you more about me, don't mean to sound creepy, just don't want to bore everyone else with the details!
Thanks.
Shoot, my last post didn't include an email link. At the risk of being spammed, because I really love your nursery and think it would make a great story, my email is amy@holedigger.com
Thanks again.
This is way late, but I just have to comment on how stunning your place is! I'm painting my apartment soon, and had pretty much decided on Ben Moore Camouflage, but I'm going to run out to the paint store to try out your Chelsea Gray as well! It's lovely
