He takes old burnt out fluorescent tubes and lights them with regular incandescent light bulbs:
Lengths of 15inchs, 2ft, 3ft, 4ft and 8ft are available. Depending on the model they are capable of hanging horizontally, vertically or free standing. The used florescents are from architecturally significant buildings.
Here is Castor's site: www.castordesign.ca. The effect is really nice, but we also thought this would be a GREAT DIY project as the materials would cost you pennies. Of course, it would take a good bit of work to do as fine a job as Castor, but hey, it can be done.

There's a lot more mercury in fluorescent bulbs than people think. I wouldnt want something as fragile as those lamps on my home. I bet a similar look could be acheived using frosted pvc tubing.

Sure you could make it at home once you had the parts, but where would you get all the old fluorescent tubes from?
It would be far more interesting and perhaps greener to make them with compact fluorescents instead of incandescents.

I mean, I'm all for industrial chic, but this is just unattractive. Especially the plug/cord.
So tired of the spam on here lately (I'm looking at you 'Kevin A Klepper'!). Can something be done about it? The conversations in the comments are one of the best things about this site and the spammers are starting to get in the way.
ARC, Just send an email to the site administrator. I did that about another spammer a few months ago and noticed all their comments were removed and haven't seen another post since.
