We've seen all kinds of great office nooks lately, and this one here has just a little extra touch of personality amid the impeccable storage system and clean white work table: an office chair reupholstered in discarded denim!
Our sewing skills are bit lacking to figure out how exactly this cover was perfectly pieced together, but we really like the clever use of the back pockets and other classic jeans details on this chair...not to mention how practical denim is as a fabric choice for furniture. If you're inspired to try your hand at making a denim slipcover, check out AT:LA reader Carsonsmom's slipcover experience based on one of our past how-to's.

I think that's an Ikea chair, and it was originally sold with that slipcover.
I love the upcycling the denim jeans to upholster the chair, but not crazy about the pockets.
Not original, can we please leave denim in the wardrobe. Looks great on asses, looks cheap anywhere else.
This reminds me too much of those purses that people used to make out of old jeans. I remember reading instructions for how to do that in Jane or Glamour or something. Not my thing (though this might look better if the upholstery didn't look exactly like a pair of jeans).
Hate to break it to you, but it came that way from Ikea. I have one myself - the denim wasn't itchy like the other fabrics the chair came in.
Hmm...that is one bad case of flat-butt jeans.
The denim leisure suit of chairs.
terrible. just terrible.
Ew. Wrong in so many ways. Like a Canadian tuxedo but with furniture.
slowdown- I thought the same exact thing. "Looks like those tacky denim bags people used to carry".
Wow....just wow.
I think I just gagged a little.
Does anyone have a guess as to where to get that storage system? Possibly IKEA as well?
Not so much.
yeah, forget the chair. let's talk about those white drawers. are they ikea?
You know, the economy might start to inspire trends. My husband was going to throw out a pair of pants because they had a hole in the back pocket. I offered to patch them for him. It might be hard for me to find a place in the city to buy those iron-on patches, but in a few years they should be everywhere, right?
I'll put in a second on wanting to know where the drawers came from. Please?
Oh, and the chair's ugly.
yep, i used to sell that chair...mainly to the parents of tween girls
I just registered to agree that the chair is not so much, but the storage unit - yes. I would like to know the source as well...
storage unit.. yeah, where did THAT come from?!
That flat-file looks pretty nice. Where to find?
I like it! And oh... was just thinking how I'd like to sew some denim-pant-bags.
Add my bid to sourcing the storage unit ....?
I wonder if they built this themselves, similar to what this young lady did:

I think the storage/drawer unit is also older model Ikea.
dnice, thanks for the term "Canadian tuxedo"--I've never heard it before and it made me laugh.
GACK! Barf. Beck. hate it. NEXT!
Drawers! We really really care about the drawers! I have enough jeans, but need more storage!
I want it for a jewelry armoire!
Not happening.
That is so ghetto and not in a good way.
What about a companion lamp outfitted in a bolo tie and cowboy hat?
Or an alternate version in white denim.
Or yet another version in Sears Tuffskins denim?
I'm serious about the white denim though.
Heck no at all on the chair.
I wonder if anyone excited about the storage units would benefit from this 10-drawer mobile organizer unit.

I've been eyeing it for my newly created painting nook, to keep paints and brushes in. Could work for jewels, but it's not as streamlined as the one in the pic.
I, too, want to know about this drawer unit. The closest I can find is the ALEX from IKEA... but it's not good enough.
I think I just heard a small, muffled scream come from the bureau where my jeans live.....
Everything in that office is so lovely, except for....
It's an old Ikea chair from about four years ago. Chair has since come in leopard print and various solids.
I also have that chair from IKEA - we call it the "butt chair" - mine was about $20 from the as-is department. Not bad, considering the full-price version is around $80.
