Our friends Evelyn and Jesse recently went on a road trip to Portland and stayed at the Ace Hotel. We were looking through the photos from their trip and were really struck by this riser mounted soap and shower caddy for the clawfoot tub in their hotel room.
What we like about it is its simple style, and mostly, that the soap and shampoo are within easy reach for shower use. We also like how the design of the shelf holding the shampoo and shower gel allows for those bottles to be securely fixed on to it.
We live in an apartment with a clawfoot tub with an added shower attachment. Because our shower head is mounted on a very thin, tall, and straight riser with no wall behind it, our standard shower caddy hangs awkwardly high up and sticks out from, rather than flush against, the riser. And being short, we still have a problem with easily reaching the top shelf where we keep the tall shampoo and conditioner bottles. It's a less than ideal situation, but until now, we haven't run across any good solutions for our situation.
Does anyone have any other well-designed solutions for shelving/caddies for a shower in a clawfoot tub?

I got Nalgene bottles from The Container Store with lotion pumps and transfer our toiletries into them once in a while. I know I'll take flack for decanting my toiletries but it really doesn't take that long and it's the only way to fit everything in there. I put labels from debrandedhome.com on the Nalgene bottles so we'll know what's what.

The shower curtain liner is two and a half liners from Target sewn together and the shower curtain is two Martha Stewart Everyday Eyelet Fabric Shower Curtains sewn together. Thanks Mom! Two shower curtains almost make it around 360 degrees.

we have the same type of tub and I just installed one of these - thankfully in our situation there is a wall facing the opposite side of the faucets. It works perfectly for us and looks pretty too.

Whoa, I didn't know these things even existed. Thanks for this post, and thanks Cynthia in SF. I'm going to get a couple of these so we stop dropping our shampoo bottles on our feet all the time.
Oh man, I had the same problem. I bought a shower caddy (this one from BBB). It stuck out, it was too high...same issues. Too lazy to return it for a better solution, it's now hanging from four extra shower curtain rings (two in a chain to make it lower!). Now the question is, do you have any extra shower curtain rings?
Might I point out that this post has that awkward pronoun issue? We are short? All of you? And you all share the same bathroom? It's all of AT's problem? Come on. Switch to the personal I, already.
