Look! Rustic & Modern Lights

These Steel and Stone Lamps are by artists Heidi and Nero Festa. We saw them yesterday at the Sivertson Gallery in Grand Marais, Minnesota.

They are a great way to support unique art and combine rustic with contemporary in one piece. For the lamps, they range in price between $199 and $425, though other pieces like candle holders are also available through the Sivertson Gallery site. They have a variety of shade options, including bamboo, wafer and textured paper. Check out floor lamp options (and two small table lamps in the background) after the jump.

Eh, that's about what Serious Lamps have cost for years... I remember paying $400 for a mid-priced table lamp back when that was a lot more money in relation to incomes.

I'm just getting spoiled by those cheap, easy lamps at Target, where you can get lighting thrills for loose pocket change.

(Do like the stone design, though.)

Pier 1 has indeed had some cute lamps lately... not quite what I'm after for nightstands, alas. The vintage bedside lamps I bought last summer do not give enough light to read by, and the husband has finally rebelled against my tendency to buy underpowered lamps. He thinks lamps should allow him to see, not just look pretty on the table... where does he get these ideas?

Target has finally brought back the small nickel-finish table lamp that we have one of, so I think I may just buy it a friend and call that done.
