In honor of Pet Design month we couldn't resist sharing this little dude we found at the Cambridge Antique Market last weekend. As a dog owner we know that collecting dog related decor is a potentially slippery slope...
First it's the one little skeptical black puppy on your bedside table (where ours has taken up residence). Then it's the entire china cabinet full of canine collectibles. So it was with great hesitation that we brought this guy into our lives. But so far, we're really glad we did. He's made us smile, nearly giggle out loud, each time we catch his sidewards glance.
Have you caved to collecting pet-inspired decorations?

I have a dachshund so I have Picassoâs âDogâ print and a dachsund memo holder at work. That's it, thankfully.
I forbade my parents from buying any cat stuff when I adopted by cat. Apparently they couldn't resist a serving tray with cats on it, AND a mug with a Shih Tzu -- their kind of dog!
Sigh.
Honestly, it's probably better to collect dog-themed knick-knacks than to collect actual dogs. :)
he is so cute
I think the little guy is adorable! I have a couple dog items but I'm always on the lookout for more...but only if they're absolutely adorable! I have this big poster in my entrance hall so everyone knows who really runs the house: http://www.cafepress.com/dogs_of_war.47473738
I think its a fine line... there are definitely some tacky pet-related decor items (okay, A LOT) but there are neat options too. I bought this: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=15048316 , not too long ago because it reminded me of my orange tiger kitty :)
hehe. my pup makes that face!

my only doggie decor lives above my armoire, watching my bedroom:

I collect dog figurines. New and vintage. I have a yorkie so yes I actually have a few of those. But only about 4.
Love it. It reminds me a bit of the RCA dog (Nipper). There's a photo in a photo tour I published of furniture designer, Andrew Stansell's loft.
