We've seen a lot of great small space solutions thanks to all the entries for our annual Small Cool contest; and here's yet another great example that combines the challenge of limited space with great style. This studio apartment featured in Sköna Hem sticks to a dark color palette of glossy black, purple, and maroon and uses some tried-and-true tricks to make this tiny apartment feel spacious. The back wall of this apartment is lined with mirrors with black moulding creating a varied grid on the wall. In front, a purple chaise lounge offers casual seating and a smaller footprint than a traditional sofa. The real surprise though is what's behind the mirrored wall: At night, the chaise gets pushed to the left, and the mirrored "wall" is actually hiding a murphy bed and two closets on either side.

The dining area--a table and two chairs--take up a small area of the living space next to the window. It also doubles as a home office. Behind the table, the streamlined white cabinets help the illusion of an open space while offering storage inside and above.

The entryway doubles as a landing strip, thanks to hooks painted with a whimsical tree branch theme up the door. To the left of the door is the kitchenette with its maroon tiles and shiny black counters. A portion of the counter is dedicated to the "entryway": a catchall for mail, gloves, and keys sits right by the door along with a gothic candelabra and matte black vase with a pink rose. Underneath the counter is a small refrigerator/freezer combo.

A small alcove acts as a mini-library, holding a stack of books on a chic table underneath a gothic wall-mounted candle holder.

The bathroom carries the same color scheme as the rest of the apartment, albeit with smaller mosaic tiles in black. The sink is a bit bigger than some of the standard wall-mounted sinks to accommodate for extra counter space to hold cosmetics and other toiletries. A chrome towel rack is attached to the sink instead of on the wall.
