Small narrow room, super tall ceiling. Foregoing the obvious (low furniture, using the walls to build shelving or even hanging a chandelier to draw attention to the ceiling), Tom Scheerer plays with the scale of the room and goes for a magnificent, tall bed. Rather than be claustrophic, the effect is majestic.
It reminds us that sometimes breaking the rules for small rooms -- or any rooms -- can have the most dramatic and pleasing effect. What do you think? What would you have done?

Not a fan; it just seems to be outlining the emptiness. Not my bag.
I agree, maybe a low platform bed can do better for the "Roomy" feel.
I like it a lot. It manages the space in a magical way.
IMHO, bedposts and footrails just get in the way in a small room...
I LOVE this. As a tall person with a soft spot for 4-posters, it's so nice not to see another platform bed skulking along the floor with acres of empty space above it.
I just hope you have a 15' door to squeeze that out of when you move.
This whole room looks really cool to me. Understated chic.
I agree with K T G. This look just isn't doing it for me in this particular space. Great idea. Just not quite the right space for it.
I didn't even notice how close the walls were to the bed because the bed took center stage. I wonder what it feels like to actually be in that room.
I like the bed fine. But the spindly table with the big blue glass bottle on it looks like something only a photo stylist could love in such close quarters - a fragile, top-heavy, tottering thing that just blocks up space. Obviously, this person has no cat.
Who makes the bed? Is it Armani or Ralph Lauren? I like poster beds with a headboard. Any suggestions on where to find one like in the photo?
I think this is a fabulous look! I've been toying with doing this myself. It's the polished metal that makes the whole space sparkle and makes the bed really work.
