Chez shoes lives in a small space. 350 square feet is small for anyone, but add in a cat (and cat box) and it makes it even smaller. That's why we love the cat ladder that got rigged up so that there really is space for everyone:
Tucked into a corner above a dresser, vertical space is used to create a little adventure, a little exercise, a little perch for a kitty. We love that even though the space is small there's still room for some fun. Now we just wonder if chez shoes has got any tricks for the cat box?

SO cute!! And I love that kitty even has birds to watch!
Is that ladder to a loft area? Is there a place for the kitty to sleep up there?
I'd definitely consider doing this in my own space but I have so many questions!
it looks like it's just a series of platforms or perches. the space is small so I don't think there's a loft space.
I LOVE Blik surface graphics! I wanted those birds so bad! But obviously there's only so many walls I can use :) But Blik has some amazing stuff! Everyone should really check it out!

i think the kitty in question is using the top "shelf" for sleeping or as a view point. cats can be comfortable in small spaces if they want to - and every cat i had would have loved this.
If you follow this back to the photostream, you can see that the stairs lead to a long shelf or ledge, and she has pictures of the kitty hanging out there. So sweet!
Laure, thank you for featuring my cat ladder on AT! Some answers:
To the right of where I was standing to take the pics, the ladder leads to a sleeping loft, which accommodates a full size bed. Both the cat and I sleep up there :) The apartment is so small that without a wide angle lens, I can't seem to get a good shot of the loft. Next to the loft, there is a long shelf that Mischa perches on to sleep or survey his kingdom - like Cassis said, if you go to my Flickr photostream you can see this in action.
thatmeggirl, this is a really easy project - two Ikea Tryggve wood shelves, cut in half to make four. They are mounted on Ikea Valter brackets. Because I have crumbly old 1920s walls, I had to mount them using toggle bolts - this was the only really tricky part. Feel free to contact me if you have other questions.
Oh and - re: the cat box, here's a great Ikea hack. Too big for my small space, but I'm trying to come up with a miniature version!
My kitty wants one!!!
Love it.
I just looked at the flickr page.
I love it all.
But it depressed me a little because now I know I live in about 300 square feet. At best.
My cats would love this, great for a smaller space like mine, just not sure I like the long shelf support. May need to try something like this with a twist. Cheers.
That is such a great idea!! Beautiful!
