We're sorry we didn't remember this little gem during bathroom month, but from a house tour ages ago comes this amazing hand painted flower mural in a classic pink and yellow tiled bathroom:
Covering the walls and ceiling, Mara handpainted these flowers in a complementary palette and instantly updated the feeling of waht could be a seriously outdated bathroom. Instead all of the charm of the bathroom's original intention remains while the bold painting adds some newer life. Maybe a bit involved for a renter (that has permission to paint) but something similar could be done with decals or just painted on a smaller scale.

Indeed a great way to go in a bathroom that is original, of which I'm all for if in decent shape to start with and yet give it an updated feel without resorting to an all new bathroom.
What I think works against most bathrooms, vintage or no is leaving the walls plain white with nothing on them.
Even if one can't paint, using graphic artwork that can with stand moisture would work as well as long as the colors within work with the fixtures.
love this! what a great way to tie in an otherwise (potentially) awkard pink tub
