We're not sure how we missed this in LivingEtc, but we're thankful to Lexy at the Renovation Planning blog for finding it: a stair runner made from scraps of Ikea carpets.
We really hope that these are actually remnants, and someone didn't cut up brand new carpets to execute this idea. But it's certainly colorful!

That looks like 2 barnslig kids rugs from Ikea. I don't think they did more than tack the down to the stairs.
Heh, the boots match.
Must say, it's not my cup of tea. Then again, it's a charmingly staged photo, what with the stripey theme & matching boots.
On a side note, my gawd those are gorgeous floorboards.
i've seen this before (was it not here on AT? i can't recall) and i think it's cute and clever.
I think this idea is great. But the execution looks a little sloppy. It's not a very crisp photo, so that may have something to do with it.
Why not cut up a rug to produce this stair runner? If I'm right this is a $199 rug. That's a very good price to pay for such an original looking runner.
Those boots scare me :-)
Yuck!
abigailbelle, yep, it's an AT repost. I'm much too lazy to find the original, however.
Messy.
It's a mess.
I have that rug. It was maybe 20 euros. Not at all expensive.
I like this for a back stairway...so comforting and fun :-)
And you won't be afraid of the kids falling when they are running up and down the stairs so much!!! Very important! :)
I agree - It'd be great potentially for stairs leading down to a playroom but I would never do this for the front entrance way.
