When you live in a city the division between public and private space is more fluid. Since we're not growing any of our own vegetables in our backyard cement jungle, we appreciate this little bit of gardening happening at the bottom of a neighbor's stoop.
It's just carrots and lettuce, but my son and I pass it frequently and enjoy watching the progress. We often see other kids stopping to check it out and for many it may be the only vegetables they see coming from dirt this year.
Have you seen small gardens in unexpected places lately?
