We stumbled upon a weekend sidewalk sale over at Mxyplyzyk this past weekend and though the items on sale were not of GREAT interest, they had a number of really nice items, some of which were colorful, some of which were nice new shapes and some that were both.

A whole wall of shiny, metal storage containers for the industrial chic. You won't find these at the Container Store.

A round-topped water carafe and glass. Never seen this svelte design before. How does the glass stand up, you ask? It has one off-center flat side which makes it lean (even cooler), though it's not good at holding a whole glass of water when standing.

A mini Bolton trashcan used as a wastepaper basket or kitchen can. We love these hinged lid designs.

Bought one of these to go under our desk as a wastepaper basket in our new office. Bright orange rubber buckets for about $16-$25 apiece.

Many, many lightly colored glass bottles. Don't quite know what you would do with these, but they are beatiful.

Woven wastepaper baskets from China. Like the old rag rugs of yore, these are probably made out of recycled plastics.

A high-tech task lamp with halogen head that we'd never seen before. They had a whole line of these medical-looking light fixtures as sconces, floorlamp and task.
