It's official: the week that all the crabapple trees flower is the BEST week of the whole year.
For a brief seven days, the streets are compeletly reworked into a paradise of pink. Every year it seems to get better and better - we simply forget how remarkable the transformation is.
When I snapped this picture I saw three neighbors who were also out taking pics with cameras and phones; everyone just loving the view.

Wow! That's gorgeous!
Where is this, Old Town?
Julian:
It's Wisconsin Street west of Halsted.
OMG !
It looked exactly like this in my town (located in France) last week !
So lovely. It makes me wish we humans could get by without our cars for a week and the road could be closed, so that everything was covered in barely disturbed pink.
Especially striking with the almost black trunks/branches, and the brilliant green plantings.
I used to live around the corner from that street and I recognized that scene right away! It looks like that every year. It's too bad that that neighborhood is being mucked up by tasteless city-version McMansion teardowns. What a travesty.
