Look! The Home of The Incredibles

We're up in Emeryville right now, home of animation powerhouse Pixar. So in honor of this trip, we're going to spotlight a real mid-century modern gem: the home from The Incredibles. The first time we saw this movie (which was years ago), we didn't really notice the interiors; but after watching it again recently, we marveled at how awesome their home was. Lovely Danish inspired chairs and tables--but we're really loving that open shelving--it makes the separation of the hallway and the living room that much more interesting (and retro)...

The dining room set matches from the table all the way to the high chair.

seriously, i love that movie, my son loves that movie, but that house is absolutely one of the coolest on screen houses ever.

This post needs more photos! The Art of the Incredibles book has an...incredible section on the design work that went into the house.

Whew! When I saw the beginning of this post I was so upset that someone had stolen my idea of covering this house on a design blog. However, with just two pictures and no commentary I hope I can still do it without copycat complaints. Now I think I might be checking out that book that thew mentioned too.

Lisa, sorry to disappoint you, but it's been done before many times ... several years ago. No one "stole" your idea, as you put it. (And I'm not saying that with a snotty tone ... I know it's hard to read expression sometimes without emoticons.)

AT's only covering it now because it was brought up in the smallest/coolest contest. Proof evident in the comment that they didn't notice the interiors when they saw the film. (I mean ... who couldn't notice those amazing interiors????) I agree that they should've at least put up more pics to do the post justice.
