The New Year brings a flurry of official declarations of what's hot or not and what's in or out. (Check out Mark's ColorTherapy post from yesterday for a roundup.) We loved this window display at Odin in the East Village. While it boldly embraces the Blue Iris color that Pantone picked for 2008, it laughs in the face of the New York Times article that declared the deer trend was dead...
You can't take trend declaration too seriously, there is usually room for interpretation...
These deer appear to be from Roost. Look how the purple almost glows in the dark!
Combined with the vividly green moss and orange book, we really like this use of Blue Iris.

I suspect there's going to be a great deal of confusion this year over what Blue Iris actually is. This color, it most decidedly is NOT.
I agree, that colour is not Blue Iris. I dub this colour "periwinkle" or "cornflower" (I really have no idea, these are the first 2 colour names that popped in my head when I saw these pics)
Angie:
Yup, a darker version of periwinkle!
Deer don't belong in the city and the city doesn't belong anywhere near the deer.
They are cute, but I simply don't think a deer belongs in Bushwick for any reason whatsoever.
Never
Never
Never
I never saw a purple deer;
I never hope to see one.
