While taking an afternoon stroll yesterday we happened upon this mailbox. It's on the outside of a large building in the garment district of Kansas City. We always enjoy something out of the norm, but we are stumped as to what the post is made out of? Give us your guess after the jump!
The post almost looks like the metal studs used in construction, although it doesn't have any holes in it (which usually allows the electrical wiring to run through). Do you have a guess as to what they used?

What's weirder to me is that little, old looking mailbox outside a large office building. That, and that Kansas City even has a "Garment District".
It looks like part of a bed frame--the portion that supports a mattress.
WHO CARES
Can you get the mail from inside? That would be cool
looks like structural steel tubing in 2x4---is it solid? in the s-f bay area you can pick up small quantities at a place called naylors--i bet chicago-milwaukee buffer burbs have some small industry suppliers you could pick up a few feet from
i looks like a steel tube, is it magnetic, or maybe welded at the underside of the mailbox?
just something that luckily the mailee found out back of the building in the rubble..that worked?? ..
