When organizing my kids' rooms and play areas, I sometimes find myself so focused on function that I forget the fun. When planning storage in your home, don't forget that floor space isn't the only thing to work with. You've got ceilings too!
The creativity of this storage system has got me smiling. The homeowners found these colorful baskets, and rather than putting them into a bookshelf or setting them on the floor, they've rigged a pulley system. Can't you just imagine how fun clean up time would be? And it looks like the contents of each basket is even labeled.

Nomade Express Slee...
This looks dangerous to me. Aren't you supposed to avoid cords?
Holy cow, what a fun idea. Although my three year old son would wear out the pulleys from overuse - he loves mechanical stuff like no other!
I can't decide if it's too Rube Goldberg, or dangerous, or awesomely fun. In our house, it would certainly be broken in a day.
Oh good gracious, my son would love this.
Miabasile, at some point, your child will not be an infant or a toddler and things that look dangerous to you now will look spirited and amazing.
Dangerous? I'm pretty sure the parents secured those pulleys very well.
The basket for camions pompiers (firetrucks) isn't hanging over the bed or anything like that. And I love the basket for "doudous."
I think this is FANTASTIC. Creative, fun, functional, unique... this makes my day!
I don't think the pulleys are the dangerous part... I think the idea of having so many cords is kind of scary. Think hanging?
this is freakin brilliant. i love this idea for kids 5-100!
Only parents know what their children are and aren't able to be responsible with, and a parent who goes to this trouble to make a lovely bedroom is probably not a parent that puts their child in danger.
I think it's a great idea, and love the execution. Great room!
(plus the little toys peeking out are very cute!)
this is awesome! i want it for myself, too, not just for the kids! :)))
I think you stop worrying about cords being "dangerous" when your kid is over the toddler phase. Think about how many classic kids games are cord-based: tin can telephones, string figures, double dutch, jump rope, dream catchers, friendship bracelets...
Crazymatilda...seriously, my first thought was that my sewing room needs this. And maybe my kitchen.
i agree with avimom- where else can we use these too! awesome TY
We are learning french full time in our in anticipation of a move to Africa and I love those written words- but I doubt I could paint them that neatly myself, any ideas for where to get decals like that?
love
This is so fun! Definitely something I should try! Since my husband and I are both mechanically inclined, I'm sure it'll be great for when we have kids.
On the dangerous side: they could easily be run through cord covers or a bisected PVC pipe. I'd love to see these with the tie-offs for boat anchors.
sadly this would not work in earthquakeville where i live. >.<
It's fun! I was a bit amazed at how many people found it dangerous above all. Being French, I guess I'm much more relaxed. Oddly (or not so oddly) enough, the people who created this great room seem to be French too!
