We love this bedroom in our latest house tour. While it's clearly a kid's bedroom, there's an idea here that can be translated to grownup room that makes the stripes calming rather than jarring... The secret here is the use of analogous colors. Analogous colors are those that are next to each other on the color wheel (if pink's not your thing, try shades of blue, green, violet or browns). Used in this way riotous color can read as almost neutral (Notice too, how teal, directly opposite, aka complementary, on the color scale, is the color that stands out in this room the most). Shine and high gloss make this look modern. Ground it with clean lined wood furniture in similar tones.
