We came across some needlework pillows while exploring Uptown Modern the other day, and upon inquiry discovered that they were from a company that salvages vintage needlework and makes pillows and furniture out of them! We've been noticing the needlework trend lately and thought we should share our find! More after the jump!
The two main principals of the August/Morgan team are Kate Hersch and Lance Avery Morgan, and together they scour the globe for gorgeous vintage needlework, and then make gorgeous pillows and furniture out of them! We loved how this company breathes new life into this old craft, recycling these gorgeous handcrafts into items that work in traditional and modern decor. We especially loved the whimsical needlework choices, like the pug pillow that caught our eye from across Uptown Modern's showroom! Check out more of their vintage-made-new selections on their website.

LOVE the Pug Pillow!
Love vintage needlepoint, hate to see the prices pushed up like this!
Recycling! Groovy!
(On the other hand, I can't envision this stuff in my home... since I flea market regularly, I could provide pillows to the world, though! Vintage needlepoint, etc, is easily found and very cheap where I shop.)
Whimsical and fabulous, if you ask me! I own some fun, vintage needlework that looks great on the bureau but would look even better as a pillow by the August/Morgan team.
