Running on our annual small burst of New Year's energy (which usually lasts about one week), we tackled a few home organization projects. Weirdly, all of them involved hanging stuff on the walls.
For the bathroom, we bought a two-tiered acrylic shelf from the Container Store ($25), a purchase we've been meaning to make for a long time. The tea tins on the shelf stash our cotton balls, q-tips, and band-aids.
In the kitchen, we made our own pegboard organizer (and wrote up the step-by-step process here). It's been a great space-saver for our pots, pans, and kitchen utensils, which were previously spilling out of our tiny kitchen's cabinets.
We also bought a magnetic knife strip ($20) at the Container Store to replace our old knife block and free up some precious counter space.
To quote Tina Fey on decorganizing, "It's a new beginning, like a Phoenix rising..." Okay, maybe not, but at least now we have a designated spot for our potato peeler, and that's really the first step to getting your life in order, right? ☺ Happy 2010!
