Happening on these outdoor television screens at Madison Square Park, we were taken with their simplicity. Aside from the video being displayed (a William Wegman installation) the panels almost don't look electronic. They look like they could have sprouted right out of the ground like the beautiful plants throughout the park.
No wires, no boxes. None of that ugly stuff we're always battling at home is visible on these outdoor display panels. We're impressed and encourage anyone passing by to stop and have a look.

Almost don't look electronic, beautiful plants, sprouting?
Maybe they appear that way in person but on the above image, they're more than ugly. Nothing organic-looking at all.
Yeah, I'm kind of mystified. They look like televisions outside?
as much as i like Wegman i find this very disappointing. one of the reasons i go to parks to get AWAY from television. this is ugly and i hope not the start of a trend.
They appeared during the US Open festivities (along with a tennis batting cage and a projector of the main match of the day).
Please oh please tell the Conservancy to get rid of them!

just went to go look at them at lunch. they are nothing to look at.
It sort of reminds me of advertising monitors you see in airports...I don't get this at all, unless he's got some good Weimaraner dog video action happening on them.
I will make an attempt to see this if I get the chance, was disappointed to miss the big Wegman show that happened recently.. I do think electronic art can intrude on the outdoors. When I was at Wave Hill there was a recording of repetitive bird song fragments that were motion activated and quickly became irritating. I wondered how real birds were affected by the bizarre vocalizations. This doesn't look like part of the garden to me but I guess it gives people a free art experience. I would enjoy encountering some Wegman and having a shake.
Rain?
A thought provoking installation. Those flat screens remind of me indoor life, where reminders of life outdoors are enhancing (house plants, stone, wood.) Outdoors among the trees and plants, the reminders of indoor life (flatscreens) are hideous.
