While strolling through a local design store yesterday, we came across this curious bamboo rug. Although we're not especially into the design of it, the technique in which the letters were done was fascinating. Our thoughts on recreating this look at home after the jump...
When we first set foot on this rug, we thought it had been screen printed and sealed (which would have worked out great as well), but upon closer inspection, we learned it had been wood burned!
Now wood burning might seem a little country crafty or granny chic, but when used with a light touch, this is a great way to bring a little of it in without it feeling overwhelming. You could trace a large pattern with an overhead projector onto the rug or draw something out freehand to follow. Seal your project when finished with some spray sealer and you'll be all set. Scared to start on something big? Try a small 2'x3' rug to get the hang of it!

Wow!
I like it, but then, I am a granny
I always wanted a Ouija board rug, but it might open up a gate to hell :-(
I had a woodburner as a kid and it was sooo fun!
This is fantastic and I love it just the way it is! It could also be translated to something with a modern inclination. On the other hand, if you are a fan of typography this may be up your alley.
Can you tell us the name of the store that was selling this rug?
ec05, that's an awesome idea! super creepy cool.
That looks pretty cool.
