interesting, but i still have no desire to swap print mags for ipads. i like looking at online mags, but that is more for clipping and image purity. nothing can replace the indulgent pleasure and pure escapism of kicking back and flipping pages.
Actually, it would have been great if it DID work on an iPad. I love kicking back and reading magazines on mine - Zinio has a wide collection of shelter magazines, including overseas publications that would normally be much more expensive or unavailable here.
But this? It requires Flash so only works on a regular computer. It looks beautiful, but I don't like reading magazines on my laptop. What a lost opportunity. I hope they get wise quickly and port the thing to some other format!
I was curious when I first read about Lonny because I still mourn Domino. I was decidedly underwhelmed and doubt that I would look at it again. I am not sure that the world needs another online magazine backed by venture capitalists connected to Tory Burch. Reba flats, anyone?
at least give it a few issues to find it's legs. they're up to issue 5, all archived on their website. give it another look. i've enjoyed several home tours. i'm happy with the content so far.
I have to say that I have really enjoyed the format of Lonny. I love print magazines like everyone else, and don't feel that this works as a replacement, but in addition to. One feature that is nifty to me is that almost everything in the home tours has a link connected to it, if you roll your mouse over it. This is great for someone like me, who might see something in a traditional print magazine and forget to write it down - I can click right through to purchase the item.
