Having guests to your home during the holiday season usually means serving a meal or at very least appetizers. Finding something attractive to serve that food on can be an issue, particularly if dinner at your house usually means eating straight out of the take out container. Enter Brooklyn ceramist Lorena Barrezueta. Since 2003, she has been hand crafting her tongue in cheek dinnerware that is design conscious and earth friendly.
"The Gourmet Collection reintroduces the ubiquitous disposable tin food container in fine porcelain as a way of addressing our perceptions of quality, value and high-end design."
Although Barrezueta's work is cast from aluminum take out containers, her pieces are built to stand the test of time. The white and gold "Classic" collection is dishwasher safe but should not be used in the oven while the colorful "Lush" collection is both dishwasher and oven safe.
Her work can be purchased online at the Curiosity Shoppe
or but she also sells over stock, seconds and samples through her Etsy shop
when pieces are available.
