It's not uncommon to attend a grownup dinner party and remember to bring a host or hostess gift — wait, adult dinner party, what's that? We kid (slightly), but we ran across a fun idea the other day that carries this tradition over to our younger counterparts when they visit friends or attend parties or events. Can you tell what's wrapped as a gift in the photo above?
Camilla over at Family Chic has wrapped small packages of gum in pages from a comic book found at the check out line at her local grocer. These small gifts aren't anything major, but they do remember to extend a common courtesy that seems to have since been forgotten.
If your child's friend showed up with a small prize for you or your kids when they arrived, just imagine how much it would make your day. Other small ideas to wrap might be small candies or even fruit or vegetables from the garden once things are in full swing outdoors. Hear more about Camilla's memories on this style of gift over at Family Chic.

Gum or veggies? Not my idea of a great gift, but I get it. I would hit the dollar racks at Target and see whats in there, depending on kiddos ages. It is a great idea to do it though.
Please, please someone give my kid a zucchini. I think I might die laughing when I saw his face.
@bobbystwin:
"dollar racks at Target"????
You would rather give a plastic piece of you know what than something useful and healthy like veggies, or fun like gum?
It doesn't seem like you get it.
LOL, JudiAU!
I think fruits and veggies are a good idea if the child is giving the gift to an adult. A child probably wouldn't appreciate those things. They'd probably much prefer a cheap plastic toy from the Target racks. And I'd much prefer a child give my child a cheap plastic toy than a pack of gum. My kid's only 3 though.
This is a good idea though.
hey...I think we are forgetting that Target actually has some cute notepads, pencils, books, puzzles, bubbles, etc....it doesn't have to be a cheap plastic toy, right?! I know my little girl would prefer bubbles or stickers.
We live in a country in Europe where giving a gift is expected when you arrive at someone's home. My kids are 3 and 1, and I cringe everytime someone brings candy for them! My kids rarely eat sweets. I do not take sweets to other people's homes for their kids, as we often take a box of chocolate for the whole family.
My son would shed tears of joy if someone wrapped up a box of cherry tomatoes for him....but he's weird like that!
Bubble gum??
Wow, that Archie comic looks so much like the Captain Underpants comics now.
I always used to find neat stuff in the Target dollar bin section......
