Typically I have an idea of exactly what I want a room to look like, but this time was different. After finding out our baby was a boy, Bryn Alexandra gave me the inspiration I needed to push forward. Nurseries are so personal and special to the entire family and I think this was the added pressure that made the task difficult.
If you're a mom, you know that passing up a Pottery Barn Kids crib for $250 is just silly. Now, I'm glad something other than design made forced me to buy something I wouldn't have originally picked out. It was a floor model that wasn't discontinued so I was able to buy the crib converter. Score!
The curtain design came from Byrn and Melissa from Windows by Melissa was the wonderful seamstress who brought them to life. I couldn't find blackout curtains that I loved for a reasonable price. Custom was the way to go.
As may be able to tell, we're big race fans and I incorporated the car/photos from Amazon without incorporating a theme. Thankfully, we love the way it turned out! We spend a lot of time in this room and hope it grows with Louis through the years.
Thanks Melissa!

Louis is one lucky boy!
I love how you combined rustic and new elements into this room. From the rugged crib to the modern light fixture. And don't even get me started about that race car! Not only is does this room have a personal touch but, it's original too!
very very nice!
where did you buy the yellow shelf?
Absolutely love this room!
where is the neon shelving unit from?
I wish there was a better view of the curtains that are talked about in the post. I too want to know where the shelves are from... they kinda look like the parsons ones from west elm.
