I'm lucky enough to have a washer and dryer in my home but they're located in the dark (and currently flooded) basement of my South Philadelphia rowhome. Aside from dreaming of one day having a fireplace, bright white kitchen and white wood floors — I also dream of having a lovely little laundry room.
The convenience of having a laundry room located anywhere but the basement would be stellar and not having to worry about dropping items on the floor would also be a huge plus. Besides the obvious reasons why laundry rooms are fabulous — they look like a ton of fun to decorate.
Any style can be incorporated into a laundry room. Simple and chic with striped walls, slightly masculine with a printed wallpaper or even full blown rustic with wood panels on the walls. If you don't have the room to devote entirely to a laundry room — you can easily put the washer and dryer in the office or work room. Slide them below the desk so they seamlessly incorporate into the space.
What's your dream laundry room?

Shaw's Original Fir...
oooh - I have a dank little basement laundry room. Maybe I hate doing laundry because that room is so terrible. Its a great idea to brighten it up, why not make chores a bit more enjoyable!
Kristen, it appears that we have the same dream.....
Kristen, you share a dream with me as well... including the fireplace and white kitchen. This definitely puts my laundry closet to shame (stackable washer and dryer behind a bi-fold door).
It still freaks me out to see the washer and dryer in the kitchen, but I could get used to it. Having them in an office sounds like a really cool idea though!
I really love the wallpaper in the first picture.
QUESTION: Anyone have any advice on where I can find great wallpaper like this? I've been struggling to find anything of this quality.
The last one! Laundry rooms are probably the most neglected places in a house but laundry is probably much more fun in these cute rooms!
Considering that I spend around 4 hours a week doing various laundry tasks (including ironing), we preserved a big walk-in closet to be used as a laundry room in our new house. It's currently under renovation, but I intend to have a nice paint, a plain but cute workstation, and humidity-proof art on the wall. I mean, I don't spend so many hours awake in my bedroom, so it's really worthwhile...
I love love love the seafoam green one! Envy!
Beatrix, I agree, I've come back to look at that one several times today.
I'm sorry your basement is flooded! Hopefully you fared well, otherwise. We live in the Midwest and our basement flooded when we had all the unrelenting rain in the spring. Hang in there! Also, I, too, want to re-do my laundry room because my washer and dryer are located in a dark, sad corner of the basement. It's on my list...
This photos selection is so nice I can't choose a single favorite. My dream laundry room is my current one after someday adding an upgraded exterior door, a relocated dryer vent, a refinished floor, and walls and ceiling changed from white to clear bluish green or greenish blue. Even though there's room for improvement, I'm thrilled that thanks to a lot of work it's already clean, functional, and the most convenient laundering set-up I ever had.
Don't like the third one - don't want a laundry near my couch, not relaxing. Also don't think laundry mixes well with office (paper and water don't mix), or in a kitchen (clean clothes and cooking splatters don't mix).
My ideal laundry room is a separate room, with no other purpose (except maybe storage cupboards.) Ideally near, and on same floor as, bedrooms. (Who wants to carry all that stuff up and down?) Ideally with good natural light, and big enough to iron in without feeling cramped. Though if I had a sewing room, (nearby, of course), I'd rather iron in there. So, I guess my ideal laundry room is connected to, or near, my ideal sewing room.
That green one with the laundry in a back hall, like a pantry, looks very nice. Would take that, if bedrooms were near, like in a one story house.
A lot of these are darling!
It wouldn't bother me to have a w/d setup near the couch in my living room. I think #3 is actually my favorite, though it was tough to choose.
I, too, have the dark, dank basement laundry room (sigh). I love the potting shed, country sink hallway one for the color, the french country one for the cute vintage graphics and the sink again. OK, I need one of those sinks! I'd be happy with one of the old school laundry sinks with the feet, too.
Combined laundry/mud room is always good. Practical, too.
Honestly...pictures 3 and 4 are a little silly. How many people actually have laundry rooms that big? I never have, and I've lived in a mansion.
My "dream" laundry room is one that a) I don't have to share and b) DOESN'T vent directly outside. I had a laundry room that did and it was impossible to keep clean...the vents sucked in dirt from outside and exhaust from passing cars. I would be fine with a tiny stacked washer and dryer in a closet, as long as ventilation wasn't an issue and I could do laundry well into the night.
There's a valve cap thing for the outside of the dryer vent that keeps out solids and vermin, although it wouldn't solve the exhaust intake problem. I think mine was from Home Trends mail order catalog.
Ooh, it should stop the exhaust intake after all. Check dryer vents in
