Q: Falling right in line with the polarizing love-it-or-hate-it opinions, I've been a HUGE fan of Ligne Roset's classic Togo sofa ever since I sat in (or rather, melted into) one at my friend's house a couple of years ago. In addition to the comfort, I loved the low, loungy feel to it. What I don't love is the insane price tag attached to it. Still, I'm firmly against purchasing the "Downlow" knock-off (or any blatant knock-off for that matter). I'm on the lookout for a 2nd hand Togo to fall into my lap dirt cheap one serendipitous day…
… but in the meantime, does anyone have any ideas for reasonably-priced sofas that will still give me that low, loungy feel even if it departs from the shape/style of the Togo? What I'm looking for is something comfy and low to the ground, but at a considerably lower cost than the classic Togo.

Sprout Side Table
The shape is different, but what do you think of the Piazza Sofa from CB2?
what is that cube table and where can I get one?!
I'll be watching the comments here. I like the cocoon-like shape of the Togo as much as its nearness to the ground and have been looking for something that can give me those things for less than a small fortune.
The Piazza is really attractive, but without arms it doesn't appeal to me in the same way.
Ligne Roset has a sale once a year; sometimes, if the line is not in a dedicated Ligne Roset store, you can combine it with a store discount as well.
You just missed the big anniversary sale -- Togos in alcantera fabric were on sale for 25% off for 6 months in honour of the Togo anniversary (ended in September).
There is nothing else like a Togo, and I wouldn't take money away from my Togo project for something I don't love.
I say this from experience... I bought my first Togo in grad school, after scrimping and saving for years (mind you, in the '90s, grad school was a lot cheaper than it is today).
Sometimes, you can find used ones on Ebay and Craiglist, so that is something else to pursue...
Cancel the TOGO and buy one that doesn't cost the same as a used car.
Have you thought of the Double Flip Floor Lounger from PBTeen?

The Lounge sofa from Crate and Barrel.
I'm all about Ikea when it comes to this kind of furnature.
I'm on the lookout for a small, low to the ground sofa as well. I found this in my webernet searches, and love the look...

The Togo is one of my favorite sofas of all time. Good suggestion from kristab on the Piazza. I had one in my movie den and you totally just sink into it. It's also nice to be able to remove the back pillow and use it as a guest bed in a pinch.
How about these?

ts,
the reader very explicitly said she doesn't want the down low sofa...
And Darcitananda,
I've heard mixed things about the Piazza -- some folks say the construction is poor and within weeks the cushions look flat and sloppy. What was your experience with it like?
I'll second the aptly-named Lounge sofa from Crate and Barrel.
The Togo looks extremely comfortable, but it always reminds me of a grub.
@mfarling
I am guessing everything in the picture is from ligne-roset.
Does anyone have an opinion on why one shouldn't purchase the down low? besides it being a knock off it seems like a dream come true from a price stand point. The double flip looks awesome but I wonder how it holds up and just how comfy it is...
Me want a Togo too! Yeah, does anyone own a knock-off?
How about the Lovesac's "PillowSac"?
Whoops, PillowSac link: http://www.lovesac.com/sacs/pillowsac.html
Circus from Zuo Modern but is not that cheap as Alphaville.
