We were lucky enough to find a new landlord who, when we told her about our mold and cleaner issues, offered to reimburse us if we bought eco-friendly cleaners for her cleaning people to use before we moved into our new apartment. She also was concerned enough about their health to ask them to start using the green products all the time.
What we ended up with was Seventh Generation products: Free & Clear All Purpose Cleaner and Free & Clear Glass & Surface Cleaner. We also bought Chlorine-Free Bleach because we just couldn't stand the smell of the Natural Mint Toilet Bowl Cleaner.

We really liked them. They're vegetable-based, non-toxic, scent-free, and they clean very well. They're definitely staying in our cleaning cupboard.

7th Gen cleaning products are great! I had tried their paper products ages ago and didn't like them, so I'd avoided the brand, but the cleaning products are excellent.
unfortunately, their laundry detergent is verrrrry weak.. i had to dispense triple -to- quadruple the amount i usually used with non-enviro brands.. and my clothes still didn't smell all that clean and fresh.. and no, it was not my own funk which was the problem. :-p
For laundry detergent, I like Mrs. Meyers. The lavender is especially delightful.
You don't like their paper products? Interesting, maybe they have changed or something, I use both their paper towels and TP and have had no issues with quality or softness. And I use little enough of both that the price doesn't bother me.
7 Gen toilet paper is a-okay, and especially good given how ridiculous it is to wipe yr derriere with paper made from virgin wood. If you can't make toilet paper out of recycled materials, you can't make anything.
I will re-try their tp, but when I used it, it was a cut below Marcal. Their dishwashing crystals do a great job, so I'm surprised to hear the laundry detergent is not up to standards.
Ecover dish soap and laundry detergent work very well and are ecologically sound as well.
