In Saturday's Chron there was a little tidbit you may have missed.
The California Geological Survey at the U.S. Geological Survey in Menlo Park is giving away outdated maps. They're 24x30 inches, and are perfect to use as wrapping paper.
The Chron says, According to the Sierra Club, if every family wrapped just three gifts this way, it would save enough paper to cover 45,000 football fields. Mind-boggling, isn't it?
The Maps Office is located at 345 Middlefield Road in Menlo Park. It's open from 8 am-4 pm Monday through Friday. (We checked with them this morning, and they still have plenty of maps.)
