When we first found out we were expecting a little boy I knew that pastels would come nowhere near this room!
After stumbling across the Skip Hop Mod Dot bedding set, I fell in love. I loved the modern design and fun colors! I DIY'd the polka dot garland over the windows with craft paper and my sewing machine. My favorite part of the room is the garland, which was actually an after thought and boy am I glad I made these! Lucas LOVES to stare at them while happily laying on his changing table.
Source List:
• Puppy dog tails print is from Apple Blossom Print on Etsy
• The initials are from Urban outfitters, as well as the cross-stitched printed hoops (I actually cross-stitched over the print as a DIY project).
• Bedding is Skip Hop, Mod Dot
• Toy box is from Lowes hardware store
• Crib and changing table are BSF Baby Addison Collection

White Enamel Flatwa...
That print is adorable. Great choices!!
The 1st picture if too cute with the saying about boys and then you go and put up
"puppy dog tails' hanger. Clever and amusing!
So sweet! Great job!
Nice job. Where are the dog tail hooks from?
i like this room! and you could change it just a bit if you ever had a girl and wanted to use the same nursery
The hooks I believe are from Ikea.
Its a great grey colour on the walls. And the storage bucket used as a toy box is great for a little boy's room. Great job.
tell us more about those adorable cats - they look quite at home in the sunny chair!
Nice, but I thought pale green and pale blue were pastels..?
Why are pastels not appropriate for a little boy?
and the light green and the light blue of bedding and lamps are no pastels?
Thank you everyone!
My kitties love hanging out in this room, maybe because it used to be our bedroom and it gets so much sunlight! (too much for sleep deprived new parents)
There are pastels here and there, but I wanted something fun and colorful. In my family circle, when you decorate a nursery it's always pastels or Winnie the Pooh themed. I wanted something different.
Your nursery is precious, but seeing THREE Grovers in your toy bin is making me antsy with excitement! They look in really good shape - did you get lucky in hunting, or were you able to find them new somewhere? (Longtime, massive Grover fan, btw. I know. It's weird.)
@minuet42
The grovers are new, and were given at my baby shower. Both my husband and I are huge fans (and anti-Elmo)
The Snuffleupagus, however, is vintage. It was actually mine when I was a child.
The chair is marvelous. It looks so cozy!
Very cosy! And, the tub for toys is great!
When the baby starts crawling, you might want to consider a few more things down lower for the baby to look at. Perhaps a long shatter-proof mirror under the window, and a book box (rather than a shelf that could be pulled off the wall).
I hear you about not wanting a pastel/WinniethePooh/babybaby theme for a nursery. Focusing on a comfortable room, rather than cartoon characters, gives it much more longevity. My son (Lukas) is now 4 and his room still looks mostly the same as when he was a baby (except he now has a twin spindle bed instead of a crib). Good basic color on the walls, nice blue stripy rug, vintage child rocking chair, hand-made car quilt (his dad's quilt made by his dad's grandma), and art by local artists. He still loves it!
I, too, am a no-pastels mom-to-be. This is a great space.
I have been hunting for the perfect shade of gray and i think you found it. Please share the name and brand. Love the room.
Yes, please let us know what that room color is...it is so hard to find the right one!
We live in an apartment and this room was already this grey color when we moved in. I asked my landlord what the name or number of the paint was and she said she had it color matched to a border she brought in to the hardware store. So I assume it's a custom color.
Sorry I can't help further.
I hope the goblin king doesn't come...
