Project by: Florence Choux Livingston of Maison Flo
Location: Mill Valley, California
Florence shares: This little oasis was designed for my French-American four-year-old boy (I'm French and his photographer papa is American). I wanted to create a bedroom he could grow into but that would still be fun and colorful.
The Muffin & Mani wallpaper was the starting point, showing playful scenes of Paris. I designed the bed to be a place to sit and read a book with lots of pillows as well as a place to sleep (about half of the pillows still stay on the bed for the night). David built the bed and used non-toxic batting for the upholstery. The bedding as well as the rug are from Serena & Lily. David also built the reading shelf from leftover white oak flooring.
The elm live edge table top was found at a local wood supply store and the metal legs were purchased on Etsy. Many items were found either on Etsy or at local antique stores like the vintage orange pillows, the little side table, the letters above the bed, the old grain sack turned into fabric and the little ladder.
The closet space is meant to be a full closet down the road but for now we like this romantic idea of a little nook so we placed an antique commode that we've had for years that contains most of his clothes and assembled clothes rods for hanging. The monkey ceramic face on the wall was made by David when Luca was born.
