Lucca Great Finds is the second Lucca store of owners Francine Katz and Peter Riches, whose first venture, Lucca Statuary, brought classic European garden statues to the Northwest in 1991.
The newer Ballard establishment keeps the shopping experience distinctly European, this time an homage to the eclectic treasures of the French flea market.

Birdcages and cloches, chandeliers and little vignettes provide the backdrop for hours of sheer browsing joy. Fine papers and stationary, candles and soaps are the store staples, accented with one-of-a-kind and vintage pieces.

The decor of the store deserves special mention: the owners have used statuary from the original Lucca as bases for the display tables, and the rich, almost creamy, black walls (is it possible for black to be creamy?) set off the carefully chosen greenery.

Let's just say Ballard is so worth the trip.

I LOVE Lucca! Well worth a trip to Ballard, especially when the Sunday Market is going on.
I completely agree with you Maryja! There are so many great boutiques in Ballard.
Damn, I've got half a mind to jump a red-eye just to browse! Will have to check it out next time biz takes me to the Left Bank, er, Coast.
Yay Lucca! I get my little red Moleskine dayplanner there every year. I adore Ballard. Favorite places in addition to Lucca: Camelion Design, Olivine Atelier, Re-Soul, Velouria (I've gotten so much great jewellery there!). There are more -- but I'm forgetting their names. The place where the guy makes his own cards with all the buttons?? The place across the way from Lucca with the dwell bedding and eccentric retro homewares? Oh! And can't forget Cupcake Royale for an amazing latte -- perfect before (or after) wandering.
Darn- I thought this was in SF for a minute and got so excited (it was under the SF tag). This place looks like my dreams and our dog's name is Lucca!
