Name: Lucinda (11 months)
Location: Evanston, IL
Color Inspiration: We wanted a nursery that was feminine without being pink. Once the soft grey blue paint was on the walls, pulling in vibrant orange as a complimentary color seemed natural. The touches of yellow keep it from being too matchy-matchy.

Tip for Using Color: Let the color wheel be your guide! Orange and blue are complimentary colors and make each other appear more vibrant. Don't be a afraid to choose an accent color and really run with it! I worried that we had too much of the same bright orange, but the neutral paint and furniture really ground the space.
Colors Used: Wall paint: Solemn Stone by Freshaire from Home Depot.

Love this room!!
just fyi, my daughter - also Lucy - abhors anything pink and purple so this is ideal. It s nice to see people branching out of the traditional pink. If it has a doll, pink, or glitter on it, my daughter will run screaming and yet everything for girls her age - clothes, toys, bedding -seems covered in the aforementioned!
My daughter doesn't like the pink sparkly stuff either. EVERYTHING from sneakers to soccer balls, to bicycles has pink and sparkles. Her room has this orange with cream. I LOVE this room!!!
