Everyone has their "thing". The aspect of interior design that they can pore over longer and clip the most images of; generally what is the starting point of most daydreams of new room designs. For me, it's often rugs, wallpaper, fabrics, upholstery — if it has a pattern, I'm checking it out. So, discovering a bespoke rug source at ICFF was a double treat…London-based Luke Irwin
began making rugs in 2003 and has multiple lines, including the bespoke option, where unique pieces can be designed directly for the client. At the show, they are featuring the Ikat collection, which is absolutely stunning - oversized pattern, beautiful color mixes and a lush hand to the material/weave.
These rugs fall into that area where a new, modern take on a classic pattern really works - it's a re-interpretation but it is done in a thoughtful way, allowing these designs to work in a truly traditional room as well as a more contemporary space.
