Can they be used in the micro? My mom had these when I was little! Definetly a 70s post hippie Brooklyn intellectual kitchen item.
These things are real workhorses - I bought eight of these about 12 years ago - and maybe I've broken a couple but otherwise look brand new.
Matilda, yes they can be used in the microwave (and freezer). I'm not certain about the lid in the microwave however it does well in a dishwasher --- it still looks likes new too.
I've been using these for years and love them. I think I got them from Crate and Barrel--didn't Crate and Barrel used to be cheaper a long time ago?
I remember selling these in the 80's when I worked summers at the Pottery Shack in Laguna Beach. Invariably, I would drop one here and there and, most of the time, they would bounce instead of break.
I have a few of those but never had the lids - must check out my local "has everything" kitchen store to see if they have them.
I've been seeing them at Crate & Barrel for quite a while...great for those people that have a tendency to pour themselves more soda than they actually drink...we have one of those people here
Does anyone know the dimensions on these glasses? Are they uncomfortably wide for holding?
Fishs Eddy has a 21 oz and a 14 oz version of the glasses. Lids are only $ 0.45 each.
I love mine. I punched a hole in one lid and use it with the 21 oz. as my coffee cup instead of paper. (I like my coffee with a straw)
I've used these for years........careful with the lids in the microwave, though.....I've melted more than one!
I think the 14 oz jars work better for storage than for drinking. I bought mine years ago when I lived elsewhere and am glad to know that I can order more from Fishs Eddy.
I'm sure everyone else realized but the Fishs Eddy people must be joking. There the glasses are almost twice what they are at Crate and Barrel, and even those are slightly pricier than they used to be.
